MIDI Channels
MIDI channels let you run multiple musical parts through a single cable or connection. Neurode MIDI gives you precise control over which channels pass, transform, or get redirected.
Channel Basics
- MIDI has 16 channels (1–16)
- Channels keep instruments separate while sharing the same stream
- Many devices use channel 10 for drums
In Neurode MIDI, channels are shown as 1–16 in the UI.
Channel Filtering
You can route a specific channel to a destination or drop it entirely:
- Send Channel 1 to a piano
- Send Channel 2 to a bass synth
- Mute everything except a lead
Channel Remapping
Transforms can remap channels to consolidate or separate parts:
- Turn a multi-channel performance into a single channel
- Split a keyboard into two channels by note range
- Redirect a drum controller to channel 10
Practical Tips
- If a destination is silent, confirm it listens to the same channel
- Use omni routes if you want to keep a device flexible
- For complex rigs, label routes with your instrument names
